Shelagh is my life coach – she has a deep understanding of people, is a good listener, follows up on any issues discussed and does help you to get focused on matters/issues that needs resolving. One of the great attributes that strikes me about Shelagh is that she is both very professional and friendly.

My life was so busy working full time, taking care of my daughter and studying for an Open University degree that I thought life coaching would just be another thing to squeeze in. I had been an avid reader of self-help books in the past but, after my initial enthusiasm had worn off I would slip back into old patterns.

Life coaching with Shelagh made my goals concrete and kept me developing even when things in my life got tricky. Shelagh’s friendly approach and listening ear helped when I had trouble in my relationships too by empowering me to take responsibility without my feeling or apportioning blame and to seek professional advice where appropriate. Having our weekly sessions helped me to organise my time more effectively. I made an action plan each week and the act of ticking off things after I had done them was very satisfying.

Shelagh also encouraged me to reward myself every time I achieved something. The Champagne tasted so good when I finally passed my driving test! (After I got out of the car, of course!) Having failed it four times in the past I wasn’t confident so Shelagh helped me to use visualisation and relaxation techniques and to think positively on the day. I’m now driving confidently every day and working towards getting my own car.

I had always wanted to publish my poetry and writing and Shelagh gave me the confidence I needed to send away my work for publication and to believe it would be accepted - and it was.

Shelagh's empathetic approach, reflective listening ear and down to earth manner was just what I needed to build up confidence in myself. Her approach was flexible and she was very supportive encouraging me to text her when I had sent away my work and choose my next OU course. This gave me the confidence and final push I needed.

I would recommend Shelagh to anyone. She gets results!!

Each week Shelagh encouraged me to set myself achievable and measurable goals which would build up to my main objectives.   She also helped me to look at ways I could recognise and acknowledge my own achievements by using rewards and adjusting my inner “self-talk” to prevent negative beliefs about myself emerging and to constantly increase my confidence and positive thinking even when outer circumstances are not what I expected or wanted. She introduced me to NLP and techniques to change my thinking and mental state on demand and I am currently practising these methods to achieve further successes both in my personal and professional life.

I have found my life coaching sessions with Shelagh to be very beneficial to me in many aspects of my life.  These sessions included firstly identifying my key purpose in seeking coaching.  At the time I felt that although my life was fulfilled and happy with a good job and loving family, there was something missing and perhaps I need to get back to "the real me" or discover what was missing.  This involved me considering and identifying my life mission, reconnecting with myself and focusing on what is important to me in mylife by establishing the key values that underpin everything I do and want to achieve.

Shelagh used active listening skills during my sessions and offered support and encouragement to step out of my comfort zone.  She used open questioning to make me think more deeply about my situation and find the answers for myself rather than relying on someone else to provide them.

Shelagh also taught me about NLP techniques. One of the ways we used this was around my self image and desire to lose weight. To help raise my self esteem and confidence Shelagh introduced me to reframing where she got me to see situations in a new light and feel differently about them.

She also provided me with time and space to think through issues for myself.  My life coaching sessions also involved changing negative beliefs to positive beliefs using affirmations and visualisations.

Shelagh always appeared to be well prepared for the sessions and I found her very easy to speak to.  She was always very upbeat in her approach and helped to motivate me to take the necessary steps to change my life. She was also able to look at my situation very creatively and come up with achievable and measurable steps for me to take.

I have been a client of Shelagh's for three months.  During that time I have been very busy with various projects around my life goals including taking art classes and applying for a special course that will enable me to follow a new career.

At the beginning Shelagh helped me to identify a range of areas of my life which needed to be addressed and we worked on a 12-month plan of action to tackle each area in turn.  Once a month we get together to assess how far I have come and what I need to do next.  In the meantime we communicate with each other by e-mail which I have found to be a very cost-effective way of receiving coaching over a long period of time, allowing me to address more issues.

Shelagh is very supportive and encourages you to change your life the way you want to, if for example, you’re not happy with the employment you’re in.

Sometimes the steps you need to take are challenging and if you haven’t quite the confidence in taking that step forward, Shelagh is very patient and will work with you to move forward at your own pace.

I would definantly recommend Shelagh to anyone considering a life coach.
